Milestone Solar recommends Suniva modules in a blog post about their installations and how you can choose the best panels for your property. Suniva panels have monocrystalline cells that make them a more expensive but more efficient option. The other option, not recommended by Milestone, is silicon. This cheaper cell structure will not provide as much power for your home but will be a less expensive option up front.

Panels example

Milestone Solar has experience installing a variety of racking systems, both for ground mounting and roof mounting, and the panels come in silver or black. They also provide panels from SolarWorld. This alternative provider still uses a monocrystalline cell structure and the pricing will be similar to the Suniva option. Milestone Solar is also experienced at installing grid-tied systems using micro-inverters to change the sunlight to power, and bimodal (battery backup) systems.

Installation & Monitoring

The installation and maintenance process from Milestone is exceptionally good. Customers who want their system up and running ASAP may find the pace a little frustrating, but for those who like a thorough approach, attention to detail and real care taken over individual needs, this is the solar installer for you. Your engineer, who may even be the owner Bill Anderson himself, will take you through your options and work through your energy needs to create a personalized system. Once this has been designed and you’ve chosen your panel brand, Milestone will take care of permits and city protocols. Installation should take 1-3 days depending on the size of the project and after 45 days your engineer will personally come back and check that your system is up and running. The equipment will have a range of a 10 – 25 year warranty depending on the brand you choose.

Milestone Solar panels from SolarWorld are also monitored by the Enphase system that is compatible on mobile devices and computers and provides and all-in-one interface to monitor your solar power output, usage and bills.

Efficiency offered by Suniva comes in at just over 17% for their monocrystalline panels. This is a very good efficiency rating – many panels only offer up to 15%. The most recently released model of SolarWorld panels offer an efficiency of 21.7%. This is close to the record efficiency of 22.04% and shows the advancements being made in solar power. The efficiency is measured by how well the panel can convert sunlight into usable energy such as electricity. The panel efficiency may vary depending on the orientation of your house, shade and roof angles. Your expert engineer will design the most efficient panel system for your rooftop or ground.

Cost & Savings

Milestone Solar offers buying and leasing options, but clearly favor and recommend customers buy up front rather than rent the panels for a monthly price and use the power. They estimate the price of a full residential solar panel system to be approximately $20,000 and provide information about how you can reduce that cost to $12,000 with federal tax credits and local incentives, such as in Maryland where you will qualify for a $1000 clean air grant.

It is estimated that the SolarWorld panels are priced between:

  • $260 - $357 per panel for a mono panel

  • $8555 – $10 000 per pallet of panels (approximately 30 panels)

To obtain financing through Milestone Solar you only have to fill in one form and you will be eligible for a secured loan of up to $40,000 or a personal loan of up to $7,500. You do not need equity, and the loan amounts and terms are flexible to your needs.

Customer Support

Your engineer may well be the owner of the company, Bill Anderson. It is the company’s policy to provide personalized customer service, to never be too busy to talk to you and to keep a close eye on the equipment Milestone Solar has installed for you. So if you do need to call, you’ll speak directly to Bill if he installed your system. Bill has more experience and credentials than the vast majority of solar panel experts and technicians you’ll find across the whole United States.

Bill Anderson info

Your engineer monitors your solar panel system and you’ll receive a visit 45 days after installation. There is an extensive FAQ section on the website and a blog that details many aspects of solar panels. You can call during normal business hours of 9am – 6pm Monday – Friday and speak to your expert technician on the phone or you can fill out the online submission form any time.

This is a company that emphasizes the customers’ needs over anything else. Rather than making a quick sale and doing a faster but less thorough job, Bill Anderson has created a more attentive culture that ensures customer satisfaction from start to finish.
